Why Jesus Christ?

Remember how God cannot have anything to do with us because of sin? God decided to
deal with our sin. All through the Old Testament, people sacrificed animals to God to pay for
sins - all the time pointing to God's plan. God's plan all along was to send His son Jesus
Christ - a perfect human being - to be the final and ultimate sacrifice for our lost world.
Why did Jesus have to die?
I Peter 3:18
for Christ also suffered once for sins, the just for the unjust, that He might bring us to God,
being put to death in the flesh but made alive by the Spirit.
Jesus died to take the penalty of our sins. In essence, he took our punishment so that we
would not have to! One thing to know, our dieing could never pay the penalty of our sin. The
only sacrifice that would serve was the death of Jesus, the only perfect human to live - the
son of God. Through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, we have a promise from
God, a new covenant, that we can also have everlasting life through His son Jesus.
