Mission
News!
Duffel Bags & Bibles for
Foster Children
2010 is SC Baptist's 10th year of mission
support through duffel bags and Bibles for Foster Children.
South Carolina Women's missionary union (SC WMU) teams together
with South Carolina Foster Parents Association in order to
provide duffel bags and Bibles for Foster Children in our state.
Approximately 8,500 children and youth
will be involved with the foster care system throughout the
year. There are over 6,000 children and youth in the
foster care system at any one given time in the year. Our
goal is to collect 2,500 duffel bags and Bibles.
The approximate cost for 1 duffel bag and
1 Bible is $18.00. If you can contribute to this project,
write "Duffel Bags" on an offering envelope. Deadline has
been extended to August 29, 2010. |

Weekly Scriptures & Thoughts:
Psalm 46:10
10
Be still, and know that I am God;
I will be exalted among the nations,
I will be exalted in the earth!
Take some time this week to stop and
enjoy the gifts that God has provided each of us. At
times, we try to lower God to our standards, and do not realize
Him as being who He really is.
Praise God!

Reflections:
*A new segment about the past
Sunday's service/sermon
The Book Of Jude - the last in
our 'Summer Shorts' series by Pastor Davis. We have been
looking at what wisdom that can be mined from the shortest books
of the Bible this summer. Jude, a single chapter and 25
verses - was a great book and reminder of our times. As
God is continually and methodically removed from all parts of
our society, Christians have to remember where we sit in the
timeline of the Bible. We are in the end times, none of us
could ever be sure exactly where we are, yet the signs are ever
present in our day in time. Jude provides a warning to
those that are teaching incorrect doctrine, and to those
following it. This week, if you get some time to re-read
the Book of Jude, remind yourself about the sermon - and about
some of the preaching that is seen today in some of our
country's largest churches - and Praise God that our Pastor
preaches directly from the Bible. I thank God that
he does not have (or try to create) his own material, all of the
material has already been provided!
As we move into the Bible study
series from James Macdonald titled "When Life Is Hard", please
make the time to come to and participate in this study. I
will not be present since I am beginning a journey with the
Youth on Sunday nights (I am teaching a regular class for the
first time in my life and am scared to death) - yet, I can
attest to this study - I remember this past year this study was
covered during the radio time that Macdonald has during the day,
and I can say that it will touch you deeply and answer some of
the toughest questions facing Christians today. It is only
six studies. The study begins Sunday Evening, September
19th, 6:00pm...
I also want to thank Fred Petit -
for the way he makes our time singing into a time of praise and
worship. Please know that he spends a lot of time working with
the choir and carefully choosing music that will prepare our
hearts to receive God's message. Also thank you to the
choir and to the musicians for their time and hard work.
Your dedication to serving is rarely mentioned.
After tonight's musical
presentation by our choir and all of the talented folks who
shared the talent that God gave them through musical worship -
THANK YOU. To be a small church, compared to others, we
are blessed to have so many people who are talented and willing
to share their gifts. What can you do to help your local
church? Time? Money? Sweat? Talent?
Prayer?
THANK YOU TO ALL WHO SANG &
PLAYED INSTRUMENTS THIS EVENING!
